Long-Term Disability Coverage

Long-term disability insurance, provided to you by IMEG, protects a portion of your income if you become partially or totally disabled for an extended period of time. This insurance replaces 60% of your income, up to a maximum each month, depending on your current annual earnings. Benefits begin after 90 continuous days of illness or disability. On that 91st day the plan will begin paying 60% of your pre-disability earnings to a maximum of $10,000 a month. Benefits would stop if you’re no longer disabled or you reach normal retirement age.

voluntary Short-Term Disability coverage

Voluntary short-term disability insurance is available through IMEG with 100% of the premium paid by the employee. It protects a portion of your income if you become partially or totally disabled for a short period of time. If you are unable to work due to a sickness, injury, or childbirth, short- term disability insurance can help you maintain your standard of living. By replacing a portion of your income, short-term disability insurance can help provide financial security until you get back on return to work.  Employees are able to purchase short-term disability coverage through SunLife. The benefit begins on the eighth day of a disability and it pays out 60% of your pre-disability income up to $2,000 a week in benefits. You will continue paying out to the earlier point of when you’re no longer disabled or up to 12 weeks if you’re still disabled.

Please note, if you live in California, you may not be interested in purchasing short-term disability, due to the California State Disability insurance. The California State Disability Insurance program provides short-term disability benefits to those eligible.
